My car is now IHRA certified for 8.50+ in the 1/4.

I know I didn't have to have it done, and I know it was a pretty big chance (a $100 chance, lol) but I did it anyway. I had my car's chassis inspected today for IHRA certification and it passed! An IHRA insepctor came here today (I wasn't actually here to see it, but what they do is squirt some kind of glue like stuff in spots on the chassis and roll cage and then use a tester to see if the metal is strong enough to withstand a set amount of pressure) and inspected my car and my uncle's car. Both passed. His car has a Jegster chassis made from chrome-molley tubing and mine has a home made chassis made from triple-strength steel tubing. Neither one of us technically had to have our chassis' certified (only time its required is if you run under 6.00 seconds in the 1/8th mile-my uncle is close at a best of 6.19, but I'm way off for now at a best of 7.43, however next year I should be atleast in the 6.80s, which still is not close but you get the idea).

A bunch of us just decided it would be a good idea to get our car's certified so that when we went to different tracks, there would be no question about us being able to race. So now if the track Tech guy has anything to say about my car, all I have to do is direct his attention to the little decal attached to one of the roll bars on the passenger side and end of story.

So, anyways, my car's chassis is now certified to go 8.50 in the 1/4 mile (probably be low 5s in the 1/8th, like really low 5s). Not that it will ever go 8.50, lol, but atleast for the next 4 years its chassis is certified to do just that.

Cool. Why would they not let you race at other tracks though?

Well I've never not been allowed to race at any of the tracks I've went to, but if a track official questioned my car for any reason, when they seen that the chassis was certified that would answer their question, lol. You understand? Some tracks are more strict then others, and the two tracks (big tracks) I've been to never teched my car (one was an IHRA member track and the other was an NHRA member track) but I went with my uncle last weekend to a different IHRA track and they did tech all the cars, lol. So if you had a car and it didn't meet the safety requirements, then you wouldn't be allowed to race. By having my chassis certified, then there's no doubts to any tech guy that it doesn't meet the safety requirements. I mean you still have to have up to date seat belts, window nets, and so on, but having a certified car means alot.

Plus that makes it easier to sell if I ever decided to do that.
