Re: how can i remove a broken valve cover bolt?
why dont you just get a bolt out its a drill bit that has the treds revered goin down left, (instead of right looking at a drill bit ud understand) so when you use a wrench to remove it the bit thinks its tightening but it actually removes the broken bolt

Re: how can i remove a broken valve cover bolt?
I think you could get it done with the head still on the car, but I would be worried about fucking up my head, so I would take it off and have a machine shop take it out. You may be able to drive the car to the machine shop and they could take it out without pulling the head.

Re: how can i remove a broken valve cover bolt?
I may have missed something, but if it's just the head of the bolt that broke off, maybe you can get enough of a grip on the rest of it by just taking the valve cover back off and grabbing the broken bolt with some vise grips or needle nose pliers. There should not be much torque at all on the bolt with the head broke off unless it was cross threaded to begin with. Good luck.

Re: Re: how can i remove a broken valve cover bolt?
yes, take the valve cover off.. and use an easy out drill bit.. if that doesnt take it out you could drill it oversized then tap it and slap in a heli-coil.
shouldnt have to take off the head no matter what ya do. unless you take it to a machine shop. |
