Re: stereo problems in a 89
it sounds like you have the premium audio (there migh be a badge on the dash saying "Premium Sound" or "JBL" or something). There is usually two plugs (at least there is in a 94-97 Im sure theres not much difference). If you do have it then there should be both of those connectors in there. Reach back in there and fish around to see if you can find bothe of them. The squarish one is the speaker wires that goes to the factory amp in the trunk.

Re: stereo problems in a 89
Well I have an extra wiring adapter b/c I originally had the premium sound but I removed the amplifier and re-wired my system so the speakers run off the head unit while the subs use thier own amp and wiring (the stock amp has WAY too much distortion). If your in so cal or would like to pay for the shipping ill give you whatever extra wiring parts I might have at no charge. Just let me know.

Re: stereo problems in a 89
i just thought i'd let you know i found the harness at walmart. But it still doesn't work. i think that the connector to the amp is messed up. it seems that it's loose. i think that the previous owners screwed it up.
