brake lights

I have a 2001 cavalier and the brake lights and the rear hazard lights do not work. The brake light on the trunk does work. All other rear lights work.

Re: brake lights

You have three brake lights. Left, Third (Center) and Right. You said the left and right don't work but the center does. So it's not the brake switch. You also said your hazard lights don't work. If I'm not mistaken your hazard lights are the same lights activated by the directional signal switch. Are your directional signal lights OK? if they are then something is wrong with your hazard switch.

Yes all other lights work just the brake lights and rear hazard lights do not work. If it was the hazard switch was inop. than the front hazards wont come on, correct?

I checked the fuses and they are okay. I'm not for sure on this but i don't think it would be a ground because all the other lights are operational. It is just the brake lights and rear hazards that do not work.
