Headlamp Replacement

Maybe I'm a moron, but I can't figure out for the life of me how to get to my passenger low beam to replace it. I've been pulled over so many times in the past two weeks because of the darn thing being burnt out. So, any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

Re: Headlamp Replacement

There is normally one bulb for the high beam and the low beam. You buy them as a unit. Assuming that your car is fairly new, open up the hood and reach down behind the lighting assembly and twist out and pull the light holder. Then unplug the bulb from the wiring. Do the reverse to install the new bulb.

On the TBs there is a soft plastic gromet behind each of the headlights. Remove that and you'll have access to twist the bulb out. Should take you less than 15 minutes...

Re: Headlamp Replacement

Ummm, there are two bulbs for the highs and lows, TBs have never had a single bulb before. (The new body style ones, at least) Low bulb is 9006, high is 9005, fogs from 02-06 not SS are 893 (pretty sure on the last digit, migh be 890)

Also, if you are doing it for the first time, it is worth it to remove the three screws and pull the airbox cover off, makes it much easier the first time around.

Re: Headlamp Replacement

Don't bother removing the airbox cover. The easy way to replace a bulb is to remove the housing assembly. Along the top of the housing assembly, on the left and right edges you'll see a metal tab that's bent at 90°. This tab is a locking mechanism for the housing assembly. The tab has a notch that acts as a locking mechanism, simply pull the tab a little so that the notch is free, then pull the tab in an upward direction. Do the same to the other tab. On my Bravada, there ia also one clip that needs a tug to be free. Now you can disconnect the two electrical plugs, and bam! the housing is free to be worked on. It is now easy to place the housing in a convienent location and replace the bulb. Re-assembly is just as easy as removal.

Re: Headlamp Replacement

Actually you reach behind the lamp, in vehicle, pop the black covers off the back of the lamp and turn out the bulb, both sides.
