I don't think I'm getting fuel

Wife's 2001 V6 Jimmy died going up a slight grade. Back in the good old days of mechanical fuel pumps, this scenario coupled with a vehicle with 90,000 miles on it would indicate fuel pump trouble. I poured gas in the opening next to the throttle body opening and it started, but wouldn't run under that condition of pouring gas in that opening. I changed the fuel filter for the first time in the vehicles life (oops) and I couldn't believe how plugged it was. I could hardly blow through it. I thought I had the problem solved, but still no start. Before I spend $40-$50 on a fuel pressure tester that I'll probably use only this one time, any one got any other suggestions. On my 1995 Jimmy, when the injectors went, at least there were signs and symptoms indicating something was going, and I was able to get a diagnostic check at the dealer without the vehicle ever dying before I changed them. I even had to tow the sucker home yesterday!

Re: I don't think I'm getting fuel

about the only thing you can do is a pressure test at this point and scan for any possible stored codes. You can get the pressure tester from the loan-a-tool at advance/pepboys/autozone, you get your money back when you bring it back...
