Just an FYI about the Revell 06 Mustang kits
someone on another board decided to check the dimensions of a 1:1 06 Mustang to the new Revell, and the measurements come out to 1:24 scale. not 1:25th scale. since it seems like most here prefer 1:24 scale this would be good news to you, it really does'nt matter to me since I build both scales.

IIRC, Revell/Monogram's earlier Mustangs (93-99) scaled out to 1/24 as well. AMT's were 1/25 and oddly enough they were better kits than the Revell/Monogram versions. Only hardcore American old-schoolers will hate on the Mustang for not being 1/25 scale. Nobody seeing the Mustangs built in person made any comment on scale...it just looks right, no matter what the numbers are.
Sure wish Revell scaled out their imports/compacts/tuners to 1/24

Re: Just an FYI about the Revell 06 Mustang kits
I noticed it was kind of large when I set it on my desk next to other models. This makes me rather happy, because the difference is just noticeable enough to drive me crazy.

Re: Just an FYI about the Revell 06 Mustang kits
I've noticed from some of the finished models on AF that those 1/24 custom wheels don't look oversized on a supposedly 1/25 scale body, and I thought it was strange, but I never expected Revell/Monogram to make a car model in 1/24 scale because of a strong opposition from their most important market--the US modelers. So the 06 Mustang kit being 1/24 scale is by far the best model related news of 2005!
added: ....which turned out to be wrong. sigh... Oh well, I have my semi-scratchbuilt Mustang, so it doesn't make much difference (except for expensive resin). Last edited by hirofkd; 11-18-2005 at 12:09 AM. |

Well, the joke is on us and perhaps this thread should be deleted once again. The brain surgeon that measured the model vs. his new car mis-measured it. It's actually 1/25. It was checked by another modeler and backed up by the brain surgeon. Reason #8,762 why I don't participate on that board anymore.
That said, in my personal sea of 1/24 scale models my new '06 Mustang looks just fine so don't let the scale keep you from buying it.

WTF!
How can you measure wrongly? did that guy have a 1/24 th measuring ruler instead of a 1/25th? Oli |

It's pretty funny if you think about it. Speaking in generalities, the younger generation thinks it sucks if it's 1/25. The older generation thinks it sucks if it's 1/24.
Considering the source of the botched measurements, remember...playing in the tarpits is dangerous Another fine day on teh intarweb

ohh well, this thread is worthless, but personally, I could'nt give a rats ass rather its 1:24 or 1:25, or even 1:24.5. I build both and my kit perchases are based on subject. not scale.

Re: Just an FYI about the Revell 06 Mustang kits
I don't care what scale it is, since my models are displayed on different shelves anyways, and my collection is so varied. I have 1:24 next to 1:18 below 1:25 and above 1:64. Makes for an interesting display.
