Radiator Drain plug

After reading all your posts for a couple weeks I went and bought a 98 last night, and as always when I buy a new to me vehicle I change all the fluids. In the past I have always loosend the hoses to drian old fluid out but for some dumb reason I cranked on the radiator drain plug and now cannot get it to seal!!!

Autozone doesnt carry a replacement so I was thinking about threading a bolt and JB weld into the little nipple?

Please help, wifes mad about the van and dog doesnt like to share his house!!

Re: Radiator Drain plug

You can get a replacement drain plug at Napa. It's a screwy plug and if you have to replace it, you are best to take out the radiator as it's next to impossible to remove it while it's in the van.

There is a catch that is suppose to prevent the drain plug from coming out completely. You need to push the plug in and turn to the right as you push IIRC.

Thanks Cdru

Exactly what I ended up doing. Tried for an hour with a pair of pliers. Then using a #10 wrench it spun right out!!
