BUT It must be checked at 95 - 113 degrees F and the car must be level. Make sure you select all gears while the car is warming up to circulate the fluid. There is a fill plug with a cover up near the one of the air conditioner lines which you can see from underneath the car on the transaxle. I added fluid (special VW type) by undoing the banjo bolt on the tranny cooler and adding fluid thru the hole the bolt came from (be careful of the o-rings) and also be carefull not to contaminate the fluid with Pentosin (red) anti-freeze. The manual recommends new seals for the level check plug as well I re-used mine (no leaks) Not an easy process and I recommend you find a manual with pictures. unless you like doing this ![]() The manual recommends a cooking or darkroom thermometer inserted in the level check hole. |
