' 78 6 Cyl Freeze Plugs

I have a leaky freeze plug on a 6cyl with the intragral head/manifold. Has anyone changed out these plugs WITHOUT removing the exhaust system to the cat?

Is there any tricks to not damage that manifold durring removal/assembly??
