Rear Deck Speakers

I have a 89 535i, and am upgrading the whole sound sytem. The rear deck has custom fit speakers. a 3" sub and a tweeter. I'm sure I can fit a 5 1/4 in there, but don't know how to support it. HOw has everyone else upgraded these speakers?
