Coolant lecking
Hello guys,
I really dont write good in english but I'll try I wont quit.In my 2000 Pontiac Grand Am I was driving and when I stopped at the light this white smoke came out of engine.I pulled over and when I popped out the hood,I saw that the smoke is coming from the coolant cable that is not plugged into nothing. Also I noticed that all coolant came out in 1 minute and the light "LOW COOLANT" was ON.So I drove the car and it was good except the light that gives you waither the engine is hot or cold the light was going close and close to the red line that would tell me the engine is too hot.I put a new coolant in and the same problem come on.After that I stopped at the light again and the smoke was on again and the engine heater was going up and up. Can someone tell me what is the problem please? Thank you, Baksuz |

Re: Coolant lecking
One of your coolant hoses has either broken or pulled away from its connection. Can you give a more detailed description of the size of the hose, whether it's near the coolant tank or the engine, etc and it might be easier to tell you what it is?

Motor size always helps, since the car came with either a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder, the more detailed you can be about your car the better, mileage, ect...
You have a coolant leak, there should be noting under the hood that allows the coolant to leak, it may be eaiser to take the car to an auto parts store and have them tell you what parts you need (if you can't get it back together without parts) sounds like you know where its leaking, now you just need to know how to fix it. Sounds kinda like a hose came off, usually a hose connects to a metal tube and a "hose clamp" holds it where it needs to go. Tell us what size motor & where its at on the engine and what the connected end attaches to, and maybe we tell you where the free end should connect to. do not run the motor without coolant, if your temperature gauge goes way up to the red zone, you may cause serious motor damage. It would be alot cheaper to have a mechanic fix this little problem then it would be to have him fix it after more engine damage occurs. |

Re: Coolant lecking
Everything is OK right now thank god.The problem was the cup on the coolant was not put on correctly so there was like too much pressure in the coolant box so it broke somewhere. They had to put new box for the coolant and right now it works fine there is no more LOW COOLANT or engine over heating.
Thank you guys, Baksuz |
