Shifter stuck - Anyone else ??

Today my little 96 3cyl 5 spd Metro got stuck in 1st. Temporarily, but had me worried. I pushed the clutch several times to make sure I was fully depressing it. Grabbed the shifter and tugged on it pretty hard, several times, when suddenly it began to work again. After that it seemed normal again, like nothing ever happened. My sweety says it happened to her too.

Anyone else have this happen or have any idea why it would happen?
Thanks,
Gumby_CT

In addition to that also check your engine mounts.
