No 4x4 help!

help! my friends 2001 tracker lost four wheel drive. When he shift transfer case into 4x4 he has no 4x4 and no dash light and no 4x4. We took air pump off and jumpered 12v to it, and it worked. Checked wires coming into pump and there is 12-14 volts. We don't know what the pink wire does. I've read about a pressure switch, but doe'nt know where it is either. Help, hunting season starts next week.

he did get it fixed. it was the two pieces on the transfer case. I can't remember if they were solenoids or what they were. It's nice to have a lever on my Jeep.
