Exhaust pipe heat wrap...

Anyone use it? Does it help with reducing heat in your C3 vette? Any drawbacks from using it?

your best bet is to remove the seats, all bottom trim and the carpeting. clean the exposed floor. now, buy double foiled sound/heat insulation. you can get it at any car parts place. it's about 3/8" thick. cut this to cover your floor, including going up the firewall as much as you can and the sides of your console. in the rear, cover the wheel wells too. use a good quality spray glue to hold the pieces in place. also, if you see gaps arounf the floor in front of the doors, you can use fiberglass insulation to fill them. be sure to keep the seat mounting holes located thru the foil barrier so that you can locate them later. using a hot spike and pushed thru the holes will make a nice hole for you.

on my vette i used 1" steel tape to do my seams, but any good tape will do the trick. once this is done, you can replace your carpet, but do not use any of the old jute that may have been under it...you won't need it now.

you will be happy with the results by doing this...car will be quieter and no heat.
