Optima doesn't fit 2002 Eclipse Spyder GT?

I checked the local part shop & their book didnt list an Optima for the Spyder GT. Theres one for the Eclipse, but not the Spyder. So I got onto the Optima website & they dont list one either. Is this true? No Optima for me?

Re: Optima doesn't fit 2002 Eclipse Spyder GT?

are you talking about the battery?

since when do certain batteries fit certain cars? aren't most of them universal batteries?

oh, and when it comes to batteries, the coupe and the spyder are the same. so if the battery fits an eclipse...it will fit the spyder

Well, the Optima site shows the 25O or the 75DTO will fit a 2000-2004 Eclipse if you use the height adaptor. It shows nothing for the 2001-2004 Spyder. I suspect it would be listed if it would fit. What kind of battery are you guys using?

the spyder is the same car as the eclipse. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE CONVERTIBLE. spyder means convertible. everything else is exactly the same(some exceptions but you don't have to worry about them).

if you start looking for mods that actually list for the spyder, you will not find anything. just about every company will list parts under eclipse...not parts for the coupe and parts for the spyder. if it is listed for the 2000-2004 eclipse then it will fit both the coupe and the spyder.

i am using the stock battery. never seen a reason to buy one of the other ones.

Re: Optima doesn't fit 2002 Eclipse Spyder GT?

I am using a stock battery right now. But I am looking into getting a Optima Yellow top and a bigger alternator. I'm running too much power on the stock ones

I bought an Optima red cap. eclipsed4utoo was right, if its listed for the regular eclipse V6 then itll fit the spyder too. It fits and works fine so Im going to throw some keywords in here so it'll come up if someone else needs to know if it will fit.

This is for DeputyMoniker. Just to let you know, your battery is only as good as your alternator. Putting in a "better quality" batter will only help when it's really cold out because it probably wont drain as fast when the car is OFF and sitting. Your alternator is what powers your car when it's running for the most part. This is why your lights dim and you lose performance if you are blasting music (aftermaket system of course). Your battery can not handle the power needed to blast your system, and if your lights dim it is because your alternator is underpowering your battery. If you want to notice any improvement you would have to upgrade your alternator...not exactly a cheap upgrade either, i think a 250amp alternator is about 800.

No, I have found alternators with the amperage that I want (250-300), but have yet to hear back from them if they will fit our cars. My guess is no because our stock alternator is only 80amps...so it needs to more than tripple its output. BUT, im sure there are some out there, I just need to get in touch with the right people. I will post a thread if I ever find anything.

The only reason I got a new battery is that my old one was leaking. I chose Optima because theyre gell cell, sturdy, have a good guarantee and I get a great deal on them. ($99 including tax)

Suddenly my car doesnt work. Its idling too low and it cuts off at stop lights. ><
Think it has anything to do with the battery?
