H23a1 replacement options needed
Looking for a replacement option for my 96 2.3 h23a1. I blew it up and I want to know what my best option is to replace it. Has anyone heard of putting a 2.2 instead? Is the crank sensor the only difference? Or do I just pony up and pay the 1200 to get one? If you have any ideas on where to find one that would be helpful also. One more rookie question... Do the Japanese used engines bolt up perfectly with all the acc? or do I need to re-wire and a new ecu?

Re: H23a1 replacement options needed
Quote:
F22A: 2.2L SOHC Base Prelude S, Accord engine. Non VTEC. 135hp H23A: 2.3L DOHC Prelude Si engine. Non VTEC 160hp. H22A: 2.2L Prelude VTEC, Accord Type/Euro R/TSX engine. DOHC VTEC 190-220hp. The H22A 2.2L swap is a direct bolt on. You can reuse all Prelude Si sensors and components, except for the exhaust manifold and electronic control unit (ECU). You do have to do some very MINOR wiring. There is a post I made long ago on some complications of the swap, otherwise it's bolt on. Good luck.
