Trunk Button Inside Does not work

For some reason my automatic trunk switch button does not work now. I have to use the remote on the key chain. When I press the button in the car it does nothing.

Any ideas?

Re: Trunk Button Inside Does not work

I'm not sure what year LS either of you have, but for 2002, the same solenoid and relay is used for the remote and the cabin switch. The switch is simply in parallel with the keyless remote relay. When you press the switch, the orange wire and the violet/yellow wires are shorted together at the switch which passes current from the 25 amp fuse around the relay and to the solenoid. Check the switch for continuity, or remove the switch and short the two switch wires together. If shorting the wires causes the trunk to release, the switch is bad or was not fully plugged in. If shorting the wires does not cause the trunk to release, then start following wires!

Good luck!

Mine is an 01. Thank you for the reply, I bet this will be a pain in the butt to trace since there is not much room to start following cables.

Jason,
I checked it out, and it was the switch.
Part Number: 769216 >PA66-GF30<

I'll hunt around monday for a replacement.

Re: Trunk Button Inside Does not work

Well now I have a problem with the trunk release not working.

Tried the shorting of the switch wires. Nothing.
Checked the fuse in the trunk. Good.
And I applied 12v direct to the trunk release and it worked.
Is there a relay somewhere?

Did you look for the valet switch (reference post #3 above) and verify that it is not active?

By all means, try shorod's suggestion. Even if the switch is set to unlocked, try flipping it back and forth a few times to clean the contacts.

To answer your question. Yes, there is a relay somewhere. It's inside the REM (Rear Electronics Module). The REM is behind the trim on the right hand side of the trunk.
