i got pulled over for speeding

, the cop says "70 in a workzone 30"

. First off i couldnt be doin 70 when i just left the traffic light 50ft back

(my car is quick but not that quick), ive also been through the same spot everyday since then and still see no work zone sign or a 30mph speed limit sign

. So can i get this ticket thrown out just cuz its not even true about the work zone or speed limit?

Sounds like you are a victim of the imfamous cops-that-hate-on-imports. I'd do something about it now. Hell, I would have argued with the cop. He must have been a dick. I can't believe you accepted a ticket for 70 in a 30 from a 50ft. launch. Something doesn't sound right...

just go to court & plead not guilty. when you have to go back for your trial, tell the judge just what happened.
REMEMBER, in this country, you are innocent UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. just dont let the court intimidate you.
OR you could hire a lawyer to go to court FOR you. usually costs $125 or so, but your insurance wont go up cuz it wont go on ur record.

ACCEPTED a ticket??????????????????????? WTF?

He didn`t have a choice. When`s the last time a cop asked you IF you WANTED to ACCEPT a ticket????

i dont think i can not except a ticket... "umm officer i wasnt speeding so im not gonna except this ticket" i dont think that would work. the spped limit posted is 40 and i was goin alittle faster then that but not 70, so im not saying i wasnt speeding, just sayin it wasnt 70 in a workzone 30. hope this works

go back and take pictures of the area showing that there is no work area speed limit 30 mph sign and then also take a picture of where you where pulled over and the stop light as well. tell the judge that you have a 4 cylinder car and that there is no way that it can excelerate to 70 mph in 50 ft

thats my plan already stevB, court date is tomorrow @ 630pm, i was pulled over in the same spot 2yrs ago for doin 80 in the 40 and got it dropped to 55 in a 40 with a lawyer and he cost me like $300. $125? give me this lawyers # and ill hit him off if he will come to Long Island NY. LOL

Well, if you go to court, DON`T say "i`m not saying i wasnt speeding"
THAT incriminates yourself.
you werent given a ticket for speeding less than 70, you were given a ticket for 70,...... not 68, not 50, not 45.....,so DONT even throw that out there.that would be volunteering information NOT relevant to your case & would only hurt you.
JUST defend that you were NOT going 70(what you got the ticket for). thats what youre there for.

LOL, yeah, thats what a speeding ticket costs here in New Orleans(well, it did...courts here are destroyed now) to get a speeding ticket taken care of. i guess anything is more expensive in NYC.
& yeah, like the last guy said, TAKE PICS,& stress that you have a lil 4cyl car, thats very important!

Yeah. I didn't mean, don't accept the ticket. It's early give me a break. Jeez. I meant, the cop obviously had it in for you so there was no way of talking your way out of it. I've tried before and have gotten warnings and reduced tickets. Do like stated about the pics of the scene. If the court date is tomorrow then I'm guessing this happened awhile ago. If that's the case, the "work zone" could have changed by now...

Edit: Also, not to be an ass, but since you were pulled there before, that is on your record and it could be brought up as a "known history" situation. But plead not guilty and don't mention that you were speeding at all.

yes id like to film a 90sec on that section to show that there is no signs. Also like i said ive been driving that same section EVERYDAY before and since and still no signs, so nothing has come down or went up since. But would they throw it out cuz the ticket is written up wrong? My buddy got a drinking ticket in NYC, on the ticket is said he was drinking St. Ives instead of St. Ides which is losion or something so they threw it out. Im thinking the same thing applies here too.

Well by accepting the ticket you admitted to doing it. You should have denied the ticket and requested the supervisor come to the scene.

if that was the case then the world would be set up like in that movie "judge dread" but its not so thats why we have the court system, the supervisor would just say talk to the judge about it.

No when you call the supervisor out to the scene a report must be made stating your claim. Which will help you in court. Not to mention I have seen a few supervisors get pissed and dont want to be bothered and tell the officer to give them a warning.

That is exactly what you will need to do. Take a ton of pics in those areas (the judge isn't going to sit through 5 minutes of video when he/she can just look at some pictures). Make sure to take pics of ALL signs as well. Technically the cops radar could have hit a sign and reflected off of someone else speeding, so he wouldn't have absolute proof that it was you that was speeding.
