HPI Dash?
Does anyone have the HPI dash kit? I just want something really cheap to dick around with outside in front of my house or in a parking lot. I don't have much money at all, and I just want something cool. What else would be a good, cheap (max of about 100-120 bucks US) kit for me to start off with?

100-120 for a kit you could find a Tamiya or maybe something else. But that is for the kit. Then you'd need to buy a radio, battery, and charger system. Total the least you could probably spend is around 200. It's an expensive hobby.

I've seen electrice R/C's go over 100 mph...not scale either. I saw some little dragster R/C's with the most insane electric motors on them do that. Just cuz it's electric doesn't mean it's slow. I always prefered electric over nitro.
I was looking at the HPI site last night and the Dash looked pretty cool. I would get the RS4 Pro 2. That looks so friggen killer. Soon as I get some cash flow, I'm gettin back into R/C's. Tamiya also makes a really killer kit. I've had 2 of them for a long long long long long time and I know for a fact that, even though they've both been sitting in my garage covered in dust and spider webs for the past 10 yrs due to lack of funding/slight loss of interest, they would work just fine. |

Instead of the HPI Dash, I'rd suggest something from Tamiya.
The dash looks alittle to 'newbish' and can't really be upgraded. Tamiya cars on the otherhand are well suited to the beginner, and when you need it they can be easily upgraded. There are plently of parts for Tamiyas, also Tamiyas are one of the hardest cars to break. My mini is over 5 years old and i've never really broken anything!! Sarujin

Dash is no better than radioshack toy's performance, but if you want something to DRIVE and look cool with a nice HPI 200mm body, its perfectly fine.
For more speed, action, fun, look no further than somethign OTHER than a Dash. I suggest a Tamiya TL01, HPI Sprint or HPI Sport 2/Rally |

My advice to you, don't get the Dash, nothing on it can be upgraded except the wheels, tires, and body. I would wait until you get a little more money so you can buy a better car instead of buying the Dash, not liking it, wasting $100, then buying another car, when you can save yourself the hundred bucks and use it for a better car with lots more upgradability.
