Angry Squeaky belt.

Ok. I have now changed the belt tension assembly, the idler pulley and the belt and it is still squeaking. I have a feeling it's the alt. bushings going out but am not sure. I went against my best judgment and bought some belt dressing and sprayed every thing and it quit squeaking. So it has to be something dragging, but if there is something I have overlooked please for the love of God, tell me!!!
By the way it's a '97 Blazer LT.

i have had this same problem for a couple months now that i mentioned in a thread in october or so. a possibility for mine was also an alternator bushing but then when i gave it some belt dressing, like you said, it quit squeaking. however, that lasted only a couple weeks and as of yesterday, its starting to do it a little more, but only when cold, and for about 15 minutes.

Re: Re: Squeaky belt.

You mite be right, I had this problem once. the squeaking was driving me crazy. What I did was, take off the belt. I got a V-belt from my "77" 350 Nova and my high speed drill gun. Placed the V-Belt on the Alt. and the other side on the chuck of my drill. Turn to high speed and nothing. No squeak. Idid the same thing to my water pump and found my squeak. Replaced water pump and squeak gone. Good Luck.
