car running after shut off?

I notice that on some cars, after the ignition is turned off, a fan continues to run under the hood. Is this fan running to help cool down the engine? If so, what is powering this fan?

It's primarily cooling the fluid in the radiator, but yeah.

The battery.

Yeah the sensor keeps the fan on until it go under its normal temparature
