Angry complete loss of power on acceleration

Drove my trooper ~ 80 mi, IBut car was not turned off during stops. Late in the day I stepped on accel. and had no power. I could accelerate with about 1/8" of pedal anymore and it completely bogs down. First thought was CAT but no rattle or hiss. Limped to DAP and changed the fuel filter. Problem seemed gone. Monday I drove 130 miles with many stops in between. No problems.
Today drove the car all day ~90 mi but car was not turned off during stops. You guessed it, Late in the day, stepped on gas no acceleration.
During last stop, I turned car off for 15 -20 min. worked fine. My guess is it wasn't the filter. Some sort of exhaust heat buildup affecting the fuel lines (water in the line?) Added gas line antifreeze, too early to tell.
The engine temp is great, so the only thing I can pinpoint is exhaust heat buildup which kinda points to Cat bu no other symptoms.
2002 Isuzu Trooper w/73000 mi. Any direction you can point me in will be appreciated. Thanks
Rick

Did you get a CEL or "reduced power" light? This sounds like a possilbe throttle by wire issue.
G/luck

Re: complete loss of power on acceleration

I own a 2000 Trooper and one day on the highway (62K) my truck began sputtering and loosing power. I had the codes read and it was my EGR valve, I replaced it and clean the intake with BG cleaner. Now it works, except that now at 66k, looks like I need to replace my starter cuz now it wont turn on. It clicks and that's it. It began when I need it to crack the starter more than once. Good luck

Nah, not likely the starter, more likely the battery.

Re: complete loss of power on acceleration

I though of the battery, my wife had it recharge, but Autozone said it was charged with no problems. I replaced the starter the hard way, since the exhaust is on the way. I disassemble the starter into 3 pieces and and then reassemble it inside. The whole job took me about 3 hours once I knew how to put it together. Once I started the truck, I disconnected the battery just to check the alternator and it run fine. Nedless to say the starter was full of grease, I guess over time the grease leaked into the starter. I will post pictures of what I did. Look for 2000 Isuzu trooper, I like my truck.
