Priming Fuel Pump
Installed New Fuel Pump on my Jetta 2.0 GLS yesterday. When I turn key onto "on" position I can hear it humming (is this what I should hear) oh should I hear a "click"?
Also do I need to prime the fuel pump... if so, how? |

Re: Priming Fuel Pump
The humming sound is what you need to hear. From what I can tell you don't actually have to prime it, but here are some hints to speeding things up and not draining your battery. Remove cover screw for connecting a fuel pressure gage and run tubing from the connection point to a gas can. disconnect your starter. turn the key until gas starts coming into the can. replace the cover screw. turn the key until you hear the gas returning to the tank. reconnect your starter and all should be well.
