Door lock Chaos

Here's the chaos-

'97 Suburban

Keyless remote locks/unlocks the doors, but not the rear hatch.
Interior lock switches will neither lock/unlock doors nor rear hatch.

Tested the rear hatch actuator - works when connected to power.

Replaced the lock relay - no change.

Help??

Re: Door lock Chaos

no, there's other problems than that. If that were the case, then the inside door lock buttons would work; however, i do not know what to tell you. sorry.

Re: Door lock Chaos

@Interior lock switches will neither lock/unlock doors nor rear hatch@When the remote is progammed correctly, with a new battery in the remote installed, and the inside lock switches are working (check for open fuse) or disconnected fuse to the lock switches (behind the panel assy.) Loose ground could be the culpit. but all these locks and switches has to work first before you can program the remote to do its job. I'll explain it step by step if you can get these other little gremmins fix first...

Re: Re: Door lock Chaos

I got new batteries in and reprogrammed the remotes. Both remotes still work fine, but the interior switches do not unlock the doors. When I use the remote for the hatch, I can hear the relay click, but the hatch does not release. Neither the interior door lock switches nor the hatch button 'activates' the relay.

Any idea where the wires that run from the relay go? Is this hooked up 'in series' such that a bad switch (door lock switch, hatch switch) is causing the interior switching to malfunction?

Many thanks for your input...

Re: Door lock Chaos

Yes they are connected in series, although that doesn't seem to be your problem. From what I understand and from past experiances with this model and others like it, it seems you have a bind in the linkage somewhere in the lock solinode, could be a weak solidnode, andy of those thats not producing enough rod motion to exoand the linkages to it fullest extent, Sometimes mebie it had gotten locked in and the person you called to have it unlocked with "A so call tow driver (that doesn't have the neccessary understanding of what going to happen if the rods are bent out of alighment when thye jammed their jimmy tool down in there and wish they knew what they were doing in the frist place.
Another throught is that, by pullinh each panel and testing each relay to see out far its supposed to expand to uplock the leakages, So also making sure the lock linkages are not on the locks backwards, no broken link connection on each rod, and no cross links bended the wrong direction, a little detective work and making use you connected right, will get you what you want to do.
