speed and tranny question

ok my 98 silverado tops out at 100 it doest shut down it just wont let u go any faster is there something i can do to it to get past 100mph. the next question is how long do transmissions in these last cause its only has like 95,000 miles on it and its barley driven?

The top speed governor needs to be set higher, or set to "Infinite" or "Off", that's a PCM reprogramming kind of thing. As for how long tranny's last, they could last 10 miles or they could last forever. It all depends on how you drive, towing habits, whether it was serviced regularly, or just never did anything to it.
