Hey guys,
Any of you ever installed a slider in the back of an extended cab? Some waste of skin broke into my truck and in the process destroyed the window frame. I need to save money on the deal to recover the costs of lost items and want to install myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Installing Rear Slider in extended cab
I installed one in the back of my Tacoma, with the help of a friend. Wasn't that hard, took about 15 minutes.

Thanks Glocks. I have heard they can be a bear to change. I'll give it a shot this weekend. I'll repost with some tips for whoever needs this info later. |

Re: Installing Rear Slider in extended cab
Don't know if you've already done it or not, but an easy way to do it is run a thin piece of rope in the rubber grommet around the window. You'll probably need two people with that big of a window, but have one push from the outside while you pull the rope from the inside. You'll have to adjust a bit as you pull it through, but it's easy enough. I used to do this with my 86 toy all the time when I'd lock my keys in it. Just pop the extra cab window out and unlock the door. Was in and out in under 3 minutes with the window re-installed.

Re: Re: Installing Rear Slider in extended cab
Hey truckpoor,
Thanks for the reply. Your right, super easy. Even easier to get the window out which is not that great for security. My brother and I pushed out the old window, lubed up the new windows gasket with soapy water, and ran a small rope through the gasket. Next, we seated the bottom of the window and pulled the rope to pull the gasket in and around the metal edges to seal it. Took 15 minutes and is pretty much a 2 man job. |
