My full size v-8 engine will not idle down after starting. I've waited 5- 10 minutes. When I put it in gear it idles down and then dies. Was-up?????

I also have a 90 Bronco, I am not a professional by any means, I know only enough to be dangerous BUT, do you have a carburetor or a throttle body?

Re: 1990 Bronco

Check your IAC valve...Idle Air Control... its on the side of the intake pleneum (sp?) they are known for going bad and can cause the condition you describe. I have heard you can get them at a place like AutoZone/Checkers for about $35ish
Ford will want about $85ish.

They can sometimes be refreshed by cleaning them.
