a danger in Sentra (..a woman :))

hallo everybody. I'm happy to find that forum

Pardon my english. I came to Us a week ago. My familly there (Louisville, Colorado) has Sentra '99. I need help on reparing it. Owner of the car is not really familiar with cars - so I'm trying to do so myself.
Please someone tell me where to repair a JOINT. Should I visit dsealer?. What is the price of that repair? Where to do that the cheapest way?

I'm desperated finding me there without a car soon Any hints will save my life

regards
Katie

Don't go to a dealer. Go to a brake shop and ask to have your CV joints replaced. Should be no more than $250 for both.

I've found for $160 per side (including 90 cvjoint + 70 replacement). They reccomend to exchange a jont together with it's axel.
Is that right?
Should I ask if the part (a joint) will be oryginal?

(I hope anyone gonna understand what I mean - it's not so easy for a woman to express about car in foreign language )

in your car the joint and the axle are in one piece so you have to replace the whole thing. do that and youll be ok.

tnx for telling me that
so there will be one question:
When I asked the men who gonna repare that about xchanging cvjoint inseparate (ithout an axle)- he didn't correct my question (he only it woluld be more work to do that - so price will be the same - etc etc)
- Why? did I misunderstand anything?

Second question why the price is less then the same part at courtesyparts.com - does it mean that it's not the same part (not the same producer?)
(sorry for being so difficult - i'ts not about money - it's about undestanding)

Re: a danger in Sentra (..a woman :))

blue book value is around $4,000 to $5,000 depending on condition. i would start asking on the high end of that, then if no one wants it lower it a little.
