Picked up new logging/diagnostic software for my palm

Looks like a really nice cheap setup for logging different things(L-trims, injector pulses,etc.) as well as diagnostic codes. Can't beat what I have invested in it( $40 pda and $100 for the cable/software). It saves logs and you can send them over to your computer. Software is very user friendly and has just about everything I'm going to need. I just didn't want to buy a laptop to log at this time, so this was my cheapest route...and I got a new little toy to play with. Best thing about this is you can use it to send your files over to Nelson and have him adjust things for maximum performance. Well worth the money IMO.

Dude, that is pimp. I already have a palm.. Zire72 and one just like on their webpage. All I need now is that software and then maybe something to tune my own PCM wiht Allen's tune so I don't have to wait on the mail anymore.

That is the engine number for a v6....same boat as an LM7, LQ4, etc. This was originally designed for the ls1 pcms, but since we're basically in the same boats....we get to reap the benefits. For those interested, here is a list of what this thing can monitor.

Diagnostic trouble codes
Retrieves & displays all current and pending trouble codes and a description from an internal database of over 600 code definitions. Also allows resetting of the SES (Service Engine Soon) light. Will also log activity to an internal database that can be viewed on the Palm or exported to the PC.

0-60 Mph Accel Test
This screen will measure how many seconds it takes your car to go from a standing start to 60mph (start/stop speeds are configurable). It does this by constantly monitoring MPH until it sees movement. It then starts an internal timer & counts the seconds until 60mph is reached. It will display your speed as well as elapsed time, and an estimate of horsepower based on the vehicle weight (user-entered). For example, on the screen shot at left, the scanner counted 4.71 seconds for the vehicle to pass 60 mph, and based on a 3500-lb curb weight, the estimated horsepower to the wheels is 336.96. Each accel test is also logged to an internal file which can be viewed or copied to the computer.

jethro_3- I haven't seen anything as of yet for the Dell, but I'll keep my eyes open. You can always just do like me and buy a cheap palm off of ebay. I paid $40 shipped for mine and will probably just use it for logging only.

Yeah, I recently went in on HP tuners with a few buddies of mine. I"m going to purchase another pcm, let Allen keep tuning me for maximum power naturally aspirated, then have my buddy locally tune me for maximum power on spray(lower timing, etc.) This way, I can just swap pcms at the track and be at maximum performance on spray or motor.

Would it be easier to keep your "profiles" saved (N/A and spray) and just quickly upload them to the pcm when you want to switch?

yeah, but I don't currently have a laptop and my buddy lives about 4 hrs away from me. He'll tune me when I go down to their track, but I'll do the pcm swaps when I'm at my hometown track. This will have to work until I get my own laptop.

I think I'd rather get the HP tuners. Like I said, I already have two palm's, I'd just like to be able to flash my PCM without having to wait for mail order.

It's in competition with a-tap and other logging software. That's as cheap as you're going to find logging software that goes through so many different things. It won't benefit the lesser modded guys much, but when you start getting into the heavier mods....it comes in really handy. We had enough guys to go in together on the HPtuners so that the cost of purchasing it was REALLY LOW.

The best thing to do with HPtuners is find several of your local friends that have 1 of the 2 year model pcms you choose, then split the cost between them. HPtuners doesn't lock into a vin # like ls1edit, so you can tune an unlimited amount of trucks with those two year models. Plus, its got a much better backing on the HPtuners forums. Much more user friendly as well.

Last thing....I got my ls1m off of a guy selling it on ls1tech, so that might explain the $100 I paid for it better.
