key won't turn

I have a '97 blazer. Suddenly the key wont turn the ignition.I tried to use the spare, same result. The battery is fine, the key works the door locks and the steering wheel lock isn't too tight.I think its the lock cylinder(tumbler maybe). Does anyone have any insight on diagnosing this problem without getting it towed somewhere first? Help

Re: key won't turn

Try spray a little WD-40 in the tumbler set and work your key in and out. Then try to see if that works. If not , your probably going to have to replace the tumbler set.

aahh, my blazer does that too. kinda has a little play either way but wont go all the way. If so, I usually attempt it 5-10 x's sometimes before it turns. and some times it works on the first time? sometimes not at all. I thought maybe the steering wheel had to be in a specific position and maybe it does idk. but it happens eveyday

Is it an automatic? If so, push the brake, make sure the shifter is all the way forward and try to move the wheel side to side and see if that helps. It works on my '97 when it gets pissy.
By the way, Girlbear that is some awsome artwork.

Re: key won't turn

Give the steering wheel a little tug left and right to loosen it up.

This has happened to my truck from time to time.
