Rear Speakers 2004 Spyder

I am thinking about replacing the rear speakers in my 2004 Eclipse Spyder, anyone have any specs on the factory speakers (they are Infinity)?

Also, before I get started, is there a trick to removing the rear panels and/or accessing the rear speakers? Any info would be appreciated.

They should be 6x9. I have a 2000 GT coupe and thats what they were. There are a few screws to get the panel off, and there is one or 2 hidden in the rear suspension cap thing. There is also another one or 2 hidden at the very bottom close to the driver/passenger door (one is VERY hard to see, and a pain in the ass to put back in). After you know ALL the screws are out, pull like hell, jiggle it a little, and bloody your knuckles. After you get the panel off it is very clear what you have to do to get to the speaker...in fact, i think it is just sitting there. IF however you want to be smart, buy 8'' round midbass drivers and cut out slots for them to fit. It will be very snug, but it will fit. While you have the pannel off I would take advantag and put some sound dampening in there. That fender has NO stock sound proofing really, and my car was really loud from the rear fenders. To get 8" drivers in there you will have to take out the black plastic piece that the 6x9 are in, and use a dremel to cut out the bottom and top of the plastic. Keep cutting and fitting until it sets in there. You will notice MUCH better sound quality if you have already put in a head unit/plan to put in a unit. If you have anymore questions let me know.
