heater-a/c problem

when i turn the heat-a/c on it will only blow out of the defrost area. when i turn the knob to come out of the bottom or any other location it just stays coming out of the defrost area. I changed the heating-a/c contorl unit and still have the same problem. Any ideas?

I have the same problem, but havent had time to follow up, check out these responses from JD Pascal, and let me know what you find.

****Look under the hood for a vacuum line off. The default position for the heater doors is the defrost position when there is no vacuum signal to the controls.
The hose goes thru the fire wall about halfway over on the passenger side. follow it to the engine and see if it is disconected.

*******try this link.

Sounds like what is described in the S/b

Default mode for the heater is the defrost position when the vacuum is low.

this S/b lists a kit from jeep that has a check valve to maintain vacuum in the heater control unit during acceleration.

The home page for that S/B is here

Re: heater-a/c problem

that is exactly what it was. after tearing the dash hald apart and replacing the heat/a.c unit it took me about 60 seconds to fix the problem. i took pic's of exactly where the hose is. email me if you want them. [email protected] Thanks.
