Parking Tickets

To better understand why i'm so aggravated about this i'll start out with some backround, I live in a pretty bad part of town, its normal to hear gun shots right outside my bedroom window at night and to hear random screams and fights going on around the surrounding streets. I've got a crackhouse next door and one accross the street and i'm always watching them deal right in front of my home. Also if i sit on my porch for a total of 10 minutes i'll wittness about 24 deals go down at the corner. Now not to say all cops are horrible but the Cleveland police don't do anything around here, I see people speed pass them and run stop signs and they just don't do anything. Few years back i called them at 3 am because i heard horriffic screams from a few houses down and they came and said there was nothing to worry about and left, Turns some some guy murdered his wife. So with all the being said i come to this morning, I don't have any room in my drive to park and every spot on the street is taken so i parked my car on my front lawn, And they ticketed me for it. The ticket said i was parked on the sidewalk/treelawn wich is bullshit and glued the damn thing on my window and i had to scrape it off. Now first off its MY property and the way i see it i can park wherever the hell i want seeing as i own it, And further more shouldn't they be cracking down on all the drug dealers on this street? you's think that would be a priority but No. The way my car is parked is really effecting this place in a bad way and that needs to be taken care of ASAP, I'll tell you what the police have got the people here shakeing on thier boots about how they park thier car.

Sorry for this long rant but i'm very unhappy with this, I don't hate cops i just don't like it when they don't take care of the real issues, And further more an i fight this ticket?

Re: Parking Tickets

As long as it's not illegal to park on your own lawn, you are golden. Take some pictures, and go to court on your court date. Show the pics to the judge, and quote the appropriate law, stating it's not illegal to park on your own lawn. You should get out of the ticket.

Re: Parking Tickets

also keep in mind that usually parking tickets are written by parking enforcement, not regular police officers.

True; and although it may be legal to park on your own lawn, it may not be legal to park on someone else's. The parking enforcement people probably don't have the ability or the time to run your tags.

...true....

I've just noticed that usually the parking ticket writers aren't the sharpest tools in the drawer....and often they're not in the drawer at all.

Re: Parking Tickets

That ticket you got is just GRAVY to them....Go to court , pay the fine and they fill their coffers. Hassle Free, for them. Arrest every drug dealer and buyer and it overloads the courts and jail. And that cost's them money. In NY alot of the suburban area's have a restiction for parking on the grass....Its a quality of life thing....I guess there is one for "no toilets on front lawn"
