MSD Ignition Coils
I was thinking of changing my ignition coils and wire and I was thinking of going with the MSD coils and a set of upgraded wires. Is there a noticiable difference between stock and MSD.
What are some reccomendations for brands of wires. 2001 Grand Prix GTP Upgraded Pully Fenderwell CAI U-bend Delete |

Re: MSD Ignition Coils
I have MSD coils and MSD 8.5mm wires but you probably won't feel anything in the seats of your pants. The stock GM coils are probably the best and will power a 9 - 10 sec. dragster. The new style AC Delco 7mm Premium Silicone wires are hard to beat too. But Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm are a great alternative and less expensive than the GM wires.
I like the MSD 8.5mm wires because they have less than 50 ohms resistance per 12 inches. The stock have around 500 - 1500 ohms per 12 inches. The red MSD stuff looks good when you pop the hood. It's down to what you think will work best for you and what total mods you have. ![]() Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 PCM, SLP Headers, 3.25 SC pulley, CAIT GMAF, 2.5 DP/Hi-Flow CAT, u-bend delete, 160 TS, ZZP Stage 1 72mm TB, TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 103, Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt, Nitto NT555R Drag Radials 1/4 ET: 13.210 sec. @ 104.490 mph 0 - 60 ft: 1.945 sec.
