jeep cherokee damaged computer

The starter went out in my Jeep. I had the starter replaced at Start Mart. When I went to pick up the car they told me something else was now wrong but they did not know what it was. I had it towed to another shop who told me the computer was fried. Start Mart told me that the computer was already fried and refused to reimburse me the money I had to pay to get the computer fixed. Should I take then to small claims court? Does a computer fry on it's own? I need some advice from you guys. Thanks
