ABS light

My ABS light Just came on. Anybody know what might be a typical cause of that for a '99 LS V6 with 68k miles? I haven't had a chance to see if the ABS is still working since the light came on during my morning commute today. I presume that the brakes have just reverted to a normal, non-ABS mode and I sould not have any problems with braking unless I am in a situation where my brakes lock. Somebody let me know if I should be worried beyond that.

Re: ABS light

First suspect. Sensor/s. Y0u may have one on each wheel if you an all-wheel ABS or one generally located around the differential housing. You're breaks should be OK but no anti-lock during wet conditions.

Thanks Don. Anybody know where I'd get replacement ABS sensors if I needed them?

I'd get them from the dealer. Be aware that if your car has the all-wheel ABS, any of the four sensors which is defective could trigger the ABS warning. Finding out which one or more of the four could be time consuming. You will need to replace each with a good one and see if the ABS warning goes away. By the way, have you noticed anything peculiar about your speedometer, that is, your speedometer fails to indicate until you speed up a bit.
