Squeak sounds like it's coming from....
There's a squeak (almost like the way rubber sounds) coming from the rear of my truck. I looked under it a few days ago and noticed that the differential cover was cracked from being rusted out. So I bought the new cover, gasket, and gear oil. I just crawled under the truck and noticed that it isn't cracked at all. It was a big rust flake that made it look cracked. I chipped off the rusted area and tapped all over it and it's still solid. Now I'm stumped again. What the hell is that noise? It's only noticeable to me at take off. When I get out of the truck arter riding for a while, I can smell that hot metal smell. Not good, but I'm so stumped. Also ever since I noticed the squeaking noise, it seems to vibrate in the bac on takeoff. HELP!

hmm vibration + noise could mean a u-joint. you can also check and make sure your leaf springs arent cracked/broken. there are plastic spacers that go between the leafs to keep em from squeaking, might check those. check the u-bolts that hold the leafs to the rear end. make sure the leafs are tight to the rear end. check your shocks. if its not any of those check your bearings/brakes. uh.. spare tire too, could be loose wouldnt be the first time someone had a weird problem that was a loose spare
. i think thats about it.

squeak
I'm not sure what may be causing the smell or the vibration sound. But i know i had a squeaking soundthat was coming from the back of my car and sound like around the rear window or spare tire turns out what was causing it is a common problem among older blazers. Where the rear window latch meet the metal u attached to the gate is worn and you can either get a new u or i just put a little bit or electrical tape around it not much def. don't put to much on put a little on and if it still does it add some more. good luck
