Re: mobil 1 synthetic oil in the cold
Nah, no worries bro, that 5w30 is good for a lot colder than that.
Did you allow you engine to warm up at all?

Re: mobil 1 synthetic oil in the cold
Take it really easy on your truck for a few miles after the warm up, and see what happens.
LT sees temps that make yours look warm, so he'll know better than the rest of us |

-40f here last winter and lengthly drops for weeks below -5f. It is amazing how my truck still runs like it does. 50 is actually quite low and nothing to worry about. You will get a little tap in the winter with cold oil. Mine sometimes went over 3/4 in the extreme cold.

Re: mobil 1 synthetic oil in the cold
It's the first time in years that I'm in a damp area.
I usually like in the Okanagan Desert. Osoyoos area (Canada's hottest city) Although I just moved to Vancouver Island for a short bit to see if I like it here. So far it's wet, and the women aren't as nice. Not the best impression, but I do love the ocean just 5 min away. I really don't know how long I'll want to stay here |

Re: mobil 1 synthetic oil in the cold
Trust me, move back, it can get pretty bleak there.

Re: mobil 1 synthetic oil in the cold
I'm seriously thinking of it already.
It's raining here, and I got a reminder of how cold damp air really feels ![]() It's the first time in almost a year that I'm actually cold even in winter gear. And I was in Winterpeg when it was -40 out not too long ago |

Re: mobil 1 synthetic oil in the cold
dry cold is nothing compared to damp cold.
Chills to the bone.
