Differential Oil
Hey guys! Listen, I have a 1997 s-10 (2wd) that I am about to change the rear differential cover on. My question is- how much gear oil do I put back in afterward? I bought 2 quarts of 8090. Do I fill until I cant get anymore in, or is there a certain amout I should put in and be careful not to overfill. Thanks everyone.......

it should be near the bottom usually in the middle of the cover and you fill until you can touch with the tip of your finger overfill causing foaming and breakdown of gear oil REALLY BAD TO OVERFILL

Re: Differential Oil
It's not on the cover. The plug is towards the top on the side of the pumpkin. It uses a square drive. But as said, fill it to the hole.
Be sure when replaceing it you clean ALL gasket material off the pumpkin and the cover. Use a razor blade and if needed, sand paper. Spray the inside of the pimpkin and cover with brake clean to ensure good clenliness.
