Gas gauge

I have a 90 Accord EX and I have noticed that the gas guage needle does not always go up to the Full line when I fill the tank. The highest the guage ever reads is at the 3/4 full level. The ONLY time it reads properly is when it is cold outside. Also when I drive about 50-75 miles the gas guage needle will read 1/2 full. Has anyone had this issue? Is this a fix that can be done by replacing a sensor??

Thanks
Henry

Re: Gas gauge

The first thing is to test to see if the sensor is the problem. At the sensor on the tank and with the key on, short the yel/wht to the blk. The gas gauge should go to full. (It will take some time to get there) If it does, replacing the sensor should take care of the problem.

Re: Gas gauge

Remove the plug at the gas tank and short the wires with a paper clip or bell wire. The access cover is on the passenger side right behind the back seat. Just drop down the seat and lift the carpet and you will see the plastic cover. By the way, I thought you had a Honda manul.
