Static Timing for an 83 1500 cc Civic
About a month ago, the timing belt on my Civic wore out and broke. My dad and I have been checking the engine out, and it seems that the valves are ok. At first we had assumed that the pistons would have smashed into them and shot the whole engine. So, now we're trying to get the engine back in proper timing with this new timing belt, but my dad still seems stumped about something. He says he wants me to find out how to "Static time" the engine, but I can't find anything anywhere. Any ideas?
Everything else looks fine, valve, flywheel, timing belt, all that stuff is where it should be when the engine is at TDC, but the car still won't start. Any help would be really appreciated. |

Re: Static Timing for an 83 1500 cc Civic
Pull the cap off of your distributor, and make sure the rotor is pointing to the right cylinder at TDC. If it isn't, pull off the distributor and turn the rotor 180 degrees and try again.

Re: Re: Static Timing for an 83 1500 cc Civic
i got an 1983 civic 1500 s motor is fine but the trans is trash. if you want a motor let me know. the car is still good too. also when mine didn't start i found the if you replace the controller (little black flat piece that has a magnet attached to it inside the ditributor ) it's called a controll module it runs about 99 bux. that worked they go bad from time to time.
