Aftermarket GPS/DVD option in 2002 Deville DTS
Recently purchased an 02 Deville DTS, and it has the stock radio. Sounds nice, but I'm addicted to the GPS in my other vehicle, as well as the ability to play DVD's (For the kid's, not me!!)
I was curious what aftermarket products fit nicely. I'm afraid pop-out LCD's might interfere with the A.C. controls, as well as the facia that covers both the radio and AC. I would consider a new stock GPS stereo from Cadillac, but I'm unsure if it has the A/V inputs for an external DVD player? I've also heard the features and speed of the stock units do not compare to the power and features of modern aftermarket units. I have a Pioneer AVIC N-2 in my other vehicle, and am very impressed with it. Oh, one more thing, any HID headlight option on this vehicle? I'm not interested in the aftermarket ricer stuff, but was hoping Cadillac made HID's on the Deville.... So far, I've found nothing! Can't beleive a car in this price range doesn't have HID lighing as an option, hope someone can point me in the right direction!! Oh, and these massaging seats are dangerous..... I want to nap whenever I turn it on Oh almost forgot- First Post! Thanks, ~Swine |

Don't answer at all at once
No one has installed an aftermarket Nav/DVD player? OK.. How about HID light kits?? Any quality (not ricer kits) stock HID headlights available for the Deville? Also, any w/ the stock GPS stereo... any aux inputs? Can it play DVD's? Can it play DVD's while driving? If so, is there a motion bypass that must be solved? Tips? Hints? ANYTHING

Re: Aftermarket GPS/DVD option in 2002 Deville DTS
ok boys (and girls if any) ive got a 00 deville so im sharing your pain, there are plenty of aftermarket units available that will do gps/navi/aux inputs and etc etc...i have an avic n1 and i love it, i ended up making a custom dash kit for my deville that brought the radio down to the bottom of the trim so that when the screen folds out it does not cover the heater controls, it worked out great, i even made a nice cadillac logo engraving in the custom piece and backlit it with a green neon to match the int lights, looks great. the tough part is finding someone to install the stuff, i did everything myself but im a cert installer. the wiring in these cars is a pain, you pretty much ahve to eliminate all factory wiring and run all new wires to the amps in the trunk of the car. it took me a good few hours to do all this, some of these cars have a bose system with the 11 speakers (like mine) so its an even greater pain in the @$$. i have been told that there is a website that sells dash kits for these cars, ive looked and looked and found nothin but feel free to try yourself, check out a local custom shop, im sure theres some in the area that do custom stuff and would be willing to take on this mess, be ready to drop some good cash tho, lots of time required and most custom shops charge alot. ive also seen the double din aftermarket units installed in these, like the eclipse and kenwood models or the avic d1...looks pretty good but doesnt take up the whole space and kinda looks...out of place...i didnt like it too much but maybe it was just the way they were installed.
im done rambling, i figured id get on here and at least let you know there were options, hit me up with any ?'s max |
