Question 81 camaro won't start

I tried to start my car today and it turned over but didn't start. Because it had been sitting for a couple of days I switched the iginiton off and pumped the gas pedal a couple of times. When I went to turn the ignition back on there was nothing. No clicking sound nothing! I have headlights which are bright which leads me to believe that it is not a battery problem. Any suggestions?? Thanks

Not yet. Will definitely be doing that. Also wondering if it could be a switch as you have to have the clutch engaged to start. Have to wait for the mechanic in the family to come home!

Yep, not even turning over. When I first went to start it, it turned over, but because it had sat a couple of days I thought I hadn't given it enough gas to get started. I turned the ignition off, pumped the gas twice and when I went to restart....nothing!

Re: 81 camaro won't start

Well, fuel pressure and ignition will have nothing to do with it not turning. Either your starter gear is jammed or your solenoid is dead or your battery is seriously low on the starting amps. I would take a look at the starter and see if the teeth are jammed into the flywheel. Good luck
