Car stuck in park
I have a 98 Concorde that belonged to a family member that passed away and has been sitting parked for a while.
I jump started the car and it started fine and everything appears to be ok, but it will not shift out of park. What would cause this to happen? It was driving ok before it was parked for an extended period of time. |

Re: Car stuck in park
next time you're at the car, have someone check and see if the brake lights come on when you try to get it in gear. If the lights don't work, the brake light switch could be faulty thus causing the car not to shift out of park.

Brake lights do come on when the pedal is pressed. I ended up calling a tow truck and the car is on its way to the nearest dealership. They had a real tuff time getting the thing on the flatbed. The tow guy thought that the brakes were all seized up but we'll see what the dealer says. Thanks for your reply. |
