My close call...

So last night I had a REAL close call, one that almost involved me losing my car. Or at least that might have hapened, not quite sure what hte punishment is for hitting a squad car.

I was out trying to get some runs in the usual place, when a pickup and a Corolla(SP) decided to pick a fight with me. I was supposed to run the same Eclipse GS that I ran last weekend, but he never showed up, and I also got a run agasint a mid 90s Accord two door with an exhaust. The Toyota I had raced already that night and whuped, and the pickup truck was claiming it ran a 12.8 1/4...but trapping at 88mph. OK.

So anyways, after turning around, we all take off out of a parking lot and punch it. The truck I guess expected me to pull out at the same time becuase he was inside of me on the exit for the parking lot, and took off but cut it real short staying in the turning lane, ripping his tires up real bad. The Corolla went to the outside (well, far right) lane of the road, and I was swinging in to hit the left lane, with the truck staying in the turn lane. We were passing a car dealership when a squad car that I guess had been watching us or knew we were comming ripped out of the exit for the dealership. The thing is...the nose of my car was right where he was pulling out. I cranked the wheel over, ended up pulling a uturn with me barely missing the squad car, and I rocketed off the other way. He hit his lights, and when I circled back after about five minutes to see what was up, the other two were still being ticketed.

Had to count my blessings for that one, woulda been a nasty issue if I had hit him.

umm...Well, in theory mine cuz I would have hit him, even though he swung out in front of me cuz he didnt see me.

Fuck man, you're lucky as shit. I think you should take off some time. I'd say take off atleast 4-5 months from racing. That is just my point of advise though.

I've actually been contemplating taking some time off, or at least easing back on the habbit. 91 Octane isn't getting any cheaper, and with my current financial state, I really cant afford to go out and blow a 1/4-1/2 tank of gas just cruising and whuping up on ricers. Especially considering I trying to save up to have some fall back cash for a new car sometime after April. That, and Im trying to buy some stuff for my girlfriend, while helping her move out of a rather harsh enviroment of her apartment, and flying her down to Texas for Christmas break.

Theres also the plain fact that I'm slow. On a good day wiht a tail wind down hill, I might be able to run close to a 15.2 1/4. Not trapping that high (91) either. Most of the people I race are the ricers and highschool kids who think fart canning their Civic will drop it into the 10s. The people out here who actually know shit about cars and enjoy racing are WAY outa my league. Except for Elchico, most of the fast cars out here are 13s or better. And of course, being the dick that owning a fast car does to ya, they wouldnt wanna waste their gas on me or anyone they deam "out of their league". Hell, most of them are just flat out assholes to anyone who doesnt have some uber 9 second race car of d00m.

After my close call last night, yeah, I've been thinking more about taking it easy, but part of me just wants to say fuck it, its what I love, and its what I wanna do. Oh well, just gonna have to see how it plays out.

o0o so that is what i drove by last night!!! i saw that white truck get stopped over on the loop, counted my blessings for not racing the guy next to me and went home... i'm thinkin' we both take some time off for the winter

You were out and you didnt call? Bastardo! Just playing. Did it say "redneck Hot Rod" on teh back of the truck? The one I was gonna race was silversih, may have been white, and had spray paint all over it. Yeah, it was on the loop, by one of the used car dealer places, I think the one that used to have the black S2K out in front. What time were you out, this was about 10:00ish, sometime between 9:45 and 10:15...becuase thats a real nice spread, lol. I think I may have seen you out, saw about three white 3Gs, one had a black nose bra, the others didn't.

yeah i guess there were plenty of white 3g's out cuz another friend of mine called and said he saw one JUST LIKE MINE by the mall, which i didn't drive by the mall last night at all. I goofed around, i wasn't going to call anyone or stay out very late so i didn't bother, soon as the cops started coming out i headed home. I was next to the corolla you raced too, the gold one....eh, didn't feel like wasting time.

i drove around from about 9:45- i saw the truck stopped, i didn't get to read the back, but i kno the guy next to me was happy he didn't go for it too.
i'm gunna try getting my xtremevision headlight bulbs back, need to get the foglights replaced
