Question overdrive flashes

i have a 1995 ford explorer overdrive light keeps coming on and flashes and the overdrive works just fine has anyone had this problem

The overdrive light flashes when the transmission is having a problem- like your check engine light comes on when the engine is having a problem.

Since its a 95 I am guessing you have a few miles on it. But, you say the o/d is ok, and you are not complaining about shifting or downshifting problems, so it may be a minor issue.

The transmission sets codes which can be read with a code reader. The codes give you an idea of what is wrong in the transmission. You should probably have the codes read to see what they are.

In some cases, when the light flashes, and you are not having any noticeable problems with the tranny - everything seems ok - you can do a fluid flush and a new tranny filter and it will go away. I was able to do that on my 99 when my o/d light started flashing.

It may be just a glitch in the computer....Try disconnecting the battery cable and reconnectoing...allowing the computer to reset...
