Guages, suggestions?

As many of you know, my friends project (I do lots of work on, I almost consider it my project too) is hitting the mod process. We got the exhaust, intake and filter, all the leaks, and the shitty brakes taken car of, and have a JoeP MBC on the way and a boost guage (Autometer Cobalt 30in hg, 30 psi) in the closet. The A-pillar guage pod we got has 3 holes, so we have space for more. My question is what guages are good to get? We were thinking A/F ratio and fuel pressure maybe more or for that matter, maybe less. What about oil temp, water temp, oil pressure, and voltmeter? It wont bother us to have an extra opening in the pod, or to get creative and make a new spot for more guages. He has plans for built internals, DSM link, and an SBR 50 trim (and obviously all the supporting mods). Any guage type suggestions?

Re: Guages, suggestions?

If it was me, I'd choose EGT gauge, but you'll have to tap the source.

A/F gauges aren't very useful, in fact, I really only use mine to tell if I'm in open or closed loop mode. But, they will tell you if you're running Extremely lean, so I leave it there just in case.

Fuel pressure isn't really necessary IMO. Oil temp and oil pressure are two other good ones, but not necessary unless it's a monster setup.

Re: Guages, suggestions?

Ok, thanks man. What does EGT stand for, and what does the guage do?

Re: Guages, suggestions?

EGT = Exhaust gas temperature, good to have, probably one of the most expensive gauges, i like the megan racing gauges i'm not sure if they have an egt gauge but they look cool as hell they're all black until you turn the car on.

Re: Guages, suggestions?

Basically the more parameters you can monitor, the more in control of the car you will be. For the cheaper gauges I think the oil pressure, oil temperature, and coolant temperature are the best (after boost of course). For more expensive get the EGT or if you're rich get the wideband O2 gauge. The AF gauges are essentially useless. Don't even waste your money. If you have a lot of power drain from stereos etc. you can get a voltage meter but I really don't know much about that.
