Blazer Tire Rack removal

Is there any aftermarket parts that I can use to cover up all the bolt holes etc. when removing the rear tire rack off a 2001 chevy blazer?

I may want to put it back on when traveling long distances.

I saw a while back someone had some flat pieces of metal that bolted in where the original brackets went. Anyone know where I could find something like this?

Thanks,
Adam

Re: Blazer Tire Rack removal

You need to sell me the old one. You wont need it anymore. These aren't the droids you are looking for.

If you do decide to sell, let me know though seriously.

And sorry, nothing to contribute to your search, I have not seen the pieces you are looking for.

You could always pull it and simply leave the bolts in and cover them with some kind of plastic cap... Personally though I wouldn't want to be without my spare incase something happened...

I've got a spare first gen rack.

I might consider parting with, if you think that it will fit.

If you get 1 for your rig look at my web site, under tech tips, and you'll see how to brace the lower cab corner.

I've modified it a little, using polly bushings in the design, but haven't up dated that part yet

Re: Blazer Tire Rack removal

Hrm, looking at some first gen pics and some current Blazer pics, the mount pieces (above and below right tail lamp) look to be different. Not sure if it will work or not =(

I want to get another rim and wheel like I have now and mount it on the rear to complete my look.

I will get rid of the underbody mounted spare if I do this to.

Anyone know if the 1st gen mount will work on my truck?

Re: Blazer Tire Rack removal

If I see someone with a blazer around your year I'll see if they'll let me compair the back

I'm away from my spare rack for a while, so I don't know when I'd have a chance to mail it, if it will work

Re: Blazer Tire Rack removal

Tell you what.

I will sell it for a very reasonable price, but I don't know when I'll be able to get too it. It's just too far away for me to go grab.
It's the same as the one on my Blazer, and in the same shape, so I can send you pics anytime.

I'll somehow let everyone know when I am going back.

Since we aren't suposed to advertise on this board can you drop me a PM as a reminder.
