Nelson tune question.

I am going to be getting one of these in the near future most likely in the spring time though and i was wondering something about it. What happens in a situation like needing to take the truck in somewhere for a problem, can the garage tell that it is not a stock pcm and if not can they screw up the programming any. I don't think so cause it has to be flashed back to "stock" right , and basically what is on the pcm from allen would be considered technicly stock no ?

I think if they reflash your pcm you will have to send it back to nelson to get it reprogrammed.

No, if your PCM gets reflashed, Allen will send out a new one and you send your old one back. I'm not sure if he charges for that, tho. Why nor go over to www.nelsonperformance.com, and find out what you can, and if there's more you want to know, email Allen from that page and get your answers straight from the horse's mouth?

If you take it to the DEALER, they can tell that the PCM parameters have been altered and reflash it with the GM Tech 2 scanner. But they couldn't really do that to your truck without asking you first. (You're truck is out of warranty) Otherwise, Indy repair shop's scanners can only read the read the codes, not the PCM settings, unless they've laid out the money for a factory one, which I don't know of any who have, since they would only work on GM vehicles, and these garages work on all makes and models. Aftermarket code readers are just that "Readers". They have no capability to reprogram the PCM.

Re: Nelson tune question.

One guy on Allen's forum said each time he took his to the dealer, he put tape or something over the port to make sure they didn't flash it for any reason.
